Since my last post, I did a little Babysitting on Thursday, went to an Engagement Party Friday, a Wedding on Saturday and a Wine Tour on Sunday.
I’ve had a really busy and fun weekend with lots of family and friends…and lots of food and drinks.
Thursday night I babysat one of my granddaughter’s, Charlotte, at her house and spent the night. We had a great time playing, but I must admit, I was not prepared for the trigger foods that can be found in the house where children live, so after Charlotte crashed on me at 7:30, I had a few too many crackers and potato chips while binge watching Orange is the New Black, but I had gone to the grocery store in advance and made myself a salad for dinner! Terribly unflattering picture of me and my salad, adorable picture of Charlotte! I love this kid.
Friday, I spent the day with Charlotte at her house reading books and cuddling. We even took a walk in the stroller. I was with her until around 4:00, then it was time for some adult fun. Friday night, Mike and I went to an Engagement Party. My daughter, Tess, wasn’t able to make it to town, but the party was for a good friend of hers that will be getting married in September, and Tess will be in the wedding! We had a great time, and the weather was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious, and would you believe that the only I picture I took was of my food? Well, of course you would. I only had 3 beers for the whole night, which I felt like was a pretty good success. Good time with friends and good food too!
Saturday was my first opportunity to get back into the kitchen, but we had absolutely no food in the house and I had a few last minute errands to run, so I ate breakfast out. (I’m so excited to cook this week! I’ve missed being in my kitchen, but the floors look great!)
We went to a wedding in Lawrence, Kansas (about 45 minutes away) on Saturday afternoon, and then to the reception later that night. Our son and daughter in law, Jake and Jordan, were in the wedding. The groom was Jordan’s brother, also named Jake. The beautiful bride is Casey. The wedding was perfect and the reception venue was awesome! This was outside, just before the fireworks show. (Not only did they get married on July 4th, but it is also Casey’s birthday!)
Jake and Casey…..
Watching the wedding party being introduced while they walked down the stairs was awesome. This is Jordan, our daughter in law, and Tom, one of the nicest guys ever. They were the Best Man and the Maid of Honor.
This is our son Jake and one of the bridesmaids. I should probably know her name, huh?
I had no idea what I was going to wear, but decided that I could put together something already in my closet. Then I went shopping anyhow. I found a dress at Burlington Coat factory for $15! I loved how comfortable it was and how it covered up all of my parts that I wanted it to cover up. I found Mike a tie for $14 at Steinmart, so I was feeling like quite the smart shopper!
After shopping for just the right jewelry, and borrowing some from a friend, I decided my dress felt like it had a 40’s-50’s feel to it with the polka dots and the flare, so I wore some of my grandma’s jewelry. I’m pretty sure she was smiling down on me. Grandma’s Bracelet, Clip On Earrings, Pearl Necklace and an Emerald and diamond Pinky Ring that didn’t make it into the picture.
Sunday morning we had the chance to sleep in at the hotel just a bit, but then we had to get home because I was off to a Surprise Wine Tour for this crazy girl in the middle!
I’ve told you about Nina. She works with me at the Food Truck. That is Sidney on the left. She is the Food Truck owner, and I really love working with these two. Anyhow, Nina is leaving us to go on an adventure in Norway, and some of her girlfriends (they’re all in their 20’s) threw her a surprise party and they were nice enough to include me and Sidney and Nina’s mom and aunt. We took a Trolley Wine Tour of three different wineries out in the country in Kansas. We had so much fun. The Trolley was super cute.
It was a great girly day…..
Here are a few of the things that I had to eat over the last few days….
Friday, since we couldn’t walk on our floors yet, I picked up a crispy crab roll and hung out at a friends house before Mike and I went to the engagement party I saved half for Mike. 🙂
Saturday I grabbed some breakfast out at a little coffee shop.
Dinner at the Wedding Reception was delish!
Sunday on the wine tour, there was a Spanish Food Truck, El Tenedor, at one of the wineries, so I got a bowl of Paella to share with the girls. Everything that came out of this truck was crazy yummy!
Okay, I’m off to the store. Our refrigerator literally has nothing in it and I am starving.
I have one more social event tonight, then it’s some serious limiting of the adult beverages and increasing my commitment to Jazzercise and Yoga!
I did not count points this weekend and I did not make it to WW Friday morning with Charlotte. That ended up being more difficult than I expected, and I was really enjoying cuddling with her.
Here is my plan for July and August.
Exercise
- Jazzercise three times a week (I’ve never gone more than once or twice a week)
Yoga one time a week (I’ve never made a Yoga commitment….I just go when the mood strikes me).
Walking three miles at least two times a week.
Food
- Only Allow myself to eat 10 of the 49 Extra Weekly Points.
Drinks
- Drink only ONE time per week. (Beginning July 7th! I have parties and such people!)
Thanks Nancy! Fun weekend, but a long one…..worn out now!
Thank You! It’s always fun to be able to wear my grandma’s jewelry!
🙂
Love the polka dot dress and the vintage jewelry!
What an exciting weekend you had.
That picture of you and Mike at the wedding reception is oh so cute.
You look wonderful–great choice of dress and jewelry.
