This has only happened a couple of times during the last 15 days, but I had the munchies yesterday, and my snacking habit is one of the biggest changes that I am trying to make during the whole30.
I woke up early and I was wanting to eat, but not cook……so I ended up eating a handful of those fat and juicy Holiday Grapes, then I had another handful. After two cups of coffee, I made my breakfast and watched Dr. Oz, because he just happened to have Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, the authors of the Whole30, on his show! I thought they had some great tips, and they make eating whole foods forever sound very doable.
I got in a 3.5 mile walk yesterday afternoon, ran a couple of errands, and cooked a yummy dinner. Other than that, I decided that I had been going like crazy for the last several days, so I didn’t do too much. It was nice.
I saw this recipe in the Whole30 book on the first day that I opened up the book, and i knew I would be making it. Yesterday was the day. Shepherd’s Pie, but topped with Sweet Potatoes. Mike maybe loved it more than I did, of course he didn’t have time to eat his lunch yesterday, so he was super hungry! It really was good though.
Pretty? Not so much. But very good.
I had to make a trip to Whole Foods for a few items, so I did a little shopping for new things while I was there. I found this tea along with a few other yummy things.
I found these little gems with the bulk foods. The only ingredients are dates and unsweetened coconut. These are likely more of a dessert item, which is a “no no” during the whole30, but i didn’t expect them to taste so darned sweet. I started with the two that I bought on my plate, but ended up saving one of them for today.
I ate all Whole30 compliant foods yesterday, but I feel like I ate too much food and too much fat. A part of me wants to count points.
Here are yesterday’s eats….
Breakfast
Un-pictured Grapes and Coffee……..then,
a Veggie mix of Peppers, Onions and one New Potato with one Sausage patty crumbled, with 2 Egg Whites and 1 Egg, and a Pear with Cinnamon.
Lunch
Turkey Taco Meat that I bulked up with carrots, bell peppers, green beans and onions, stuffed into lettuce leaves and topped with Smashed Avocado, and a few peppers and carrots on the side for crunch.
With my lunch, I also had a Banana with 1 tsp SunButter and a sprinkle of Chia Seeds
Snack
Dates rolled in Raw Coconut with Raw Pecans and Hot Tea.
One of those was plenty.
Dinner
Shepherd’s Pie. I wish it looked as good as it tasted.
Exercise = Walked 3.5 Miles
Water Consumed = 70
This is What I Will Accomplish in 2015
I will choose one occasion per month for Social Drinking (um..this is a work in progress)
I will go no more than two days in a row without exercise. (I’ve done “two a day’s” to make up, and slacked lately)
I will track every single day of the entire year. (I’ve only NOT tracked a few weekends this year.)
I will not be tracking my food while doing the Whole30.
I will run in a minimum of six 5K’s. Four down, two to go!
“love the life you live, live the life you love”
I checked out the soup recipe. Looks pretty good! I just make have to make that. Thanks Nancy!
I was over at everydaymaven to look at a soup recipe called Portuguese Green Soup and it was listed as Whole30.
It had a lot of ingredients I see in your recipes so I thought I let you know.
