I’ll write a bit more detail in today’s next post, but Mike and I went to Dallas this weekend to visit our daughter, Tess.
I wasn’t really thinking about this trip when we had decided to do another committed round of the Whole30. A few days ago, it hit me how challenging the weekend could be with eating out all weekend and socializing. I had made up my mind to not stress about it, and eat healthy and do the best that I could.
Breakfast was easy. Tess picked us up at the airport Saturday morning and we went to her apartment for breakfast.
For lunch we went to a BBQ restaurant. Again, I had decided to not stress about my food, and just eat healthy. I surprisingly discovered a Smoked Red Fish with vegetables on the menu, and it was amazing, and as far as I could tell from the description that the waitress gave me, it was 100% Whole30 compliant. There were 7 of us at lunch, and everyone ordered drinks except for Mike and I. The weather was a little dreary and chilly, so I was fine with my coffee, although in the back of my head, a beer was sounding really good.
For dinner we went out to a Mexican restaurant. I knew I would order my usual Mexican restaurant favorite, Shrimp Fajita’s with no beans or rice, and extra fajita veggies. We had a wait at the restaurant, and there were 7 of us, and everyone ordered drinks while we stood in the bar area waiting for our table. I was starting to feel a little anxious thinking about having a drink with everyone else. I ordered a glass of wine and sipped on it for the rest of the night.
