It was such a great long weekend. It was filled with lots of family, lots of fun, lots of healthy and yummy food, lots of activity, and lots of love. I wish I could share every detail, but I would be on the couch blogging all day long.
Here is an attempt at the short version.
Tess and Manuel came in on Thursday evening and I was super excited to see them!
Friday
Friday morning, Tess and I went to my WW meeting, and I loved having her there with me. She is rocking her WW healthy living right now. She is at her lowest weight since starting WW a few years back and is just a few pounds from her goal weight. She looks and feels awesome. She is tracking and planning and doing some new exercise classes that have her feeling her best! So happy for her!
After our meeting, we picked up Manuel and went to Joe’s KC for some yummy BBQ and a beer. We both tracked everything.
I ordered a Turkey Sandwich, ate 1/4 of the bun, had a beer, and Tess and I shared this “Kansas Caviar”, which was pretty darned tasty!
After lunch, we went home, grabbed Tucker, and we all went on a walk. I loved that they went with me!
Little Miss Fit did lunges all the way up this hill. I think she counted 60.
The rest of the day was pretty chill. Fish Taco’s at home, Tess and I went to a neighbors and sat by the fire pit for a short visit, then Tess and Manuel played Foosball in the basement, and I think we were all in bed before 11:00.
Saturday
This was my favorite day of the weekend. We had an idea of what we wanted to do, but we really packed a lot in and had a blast.
First of all, it was the only full day of sunshine, so I wanted to spend most of the day outside.
Tess and I went to 8:00 am Hot Yoga, and she had never done Yoga before. She killed it! Then we went home, had a small bite to eat with Manuel, then hopped in Mike’s new car, put the top down, and headed out for a beautiful day in the convertible.
Our first stop was the City Market in downtown Overland Park. I love it there! Great people watching, live music and fresh flowers and fruits and veggies!
We also found the Weiner Wagon (no joke) where we decided we needed a taste. Tess and I shared this Bacon Sausage with Gravy. I swear this was one of the best things that I’ve had to eat in a long time. Such a treat. I didn’t eat all of the bread, but this was the bomb!
After our City Market fun, we went to my moms and had coffee with her for a bit, then we went by my dads house to say hi to him and my stepmom. Then……we stopped at a little bar with a great patio, and shared an appetizer of grilled chicken strips and we all had a beer (and lots of water).
We came home and enjoyed the sunshine while chilling on the deck. The weather was perfect all day!
After just enough time to enjoy a cold one, all of the kids and grandkids came over for a cookout. You guys, I made some really good food, but I was so busy playing with the grandkids and enjoying the family being over, I forgot to take pictures of it all!
I grilled Chicken, Flank Steak, Organic Beef Hot Dogs, Two flavors of Chicken Sausages and a whole lot of bell peppers. Here is a terrible picture of my dinner, but it was all really good!
Sunday
Tess, Manuel, Mike and I went to church at 9:00 am, then came home and cooked up some more food.
We added eggs to everything you see above, then Tess made us a yummy dessert. Baked pears! She found this recipe over at Emily Bites. Each Pear half was 2 SmartPoints, and this was delish!!
We ate outside on the deck, had music playing, the sun was shining. The whole weekend really was great!
Check out my new Target furniture! Well, and my cute kiddo.
Mike seems to like it too.
The sad part of the weekend is always when its time to drive to the airport, then wait for boarding time. I was playing around here, but I totally fell apart when we hugged good bye. It was such a great visit, my kiddo is in a great place, but sometimes I just really miss having her close to me.
I know she is happy, and I could not be happier for her. She’s also found a really great guy who seems to adore her. What more could a mom ask for?
I went home, grabbed my shoes, and headed to the park to get some miles in around 5:30. I seemed to walk forever!
I chilled on the dock for a while after my walk, soaked up the fresh air, and tried really hard not to feel sad about the weekend ending.
Monday
I spent the morning on my deck drinking coffee and watching GMA on my iPad. Why have I never thought to do this before? I am loving my new deck furniture, so I’m sure I was determined to find a way to enjoy it as much as possible yesterday.
I ate great, drank lots of water, and in between the thunder and the rain, and spurts of no rain, got 6 miles in.
I tracked my food all weekend, thanks to Tess. We ate great while enjoying a few beers. We were both sure to get in lots of water. I loved that we walked and did Yoga together. We talked about future fitness goals and talked about a few new things to try in the kitchen.
I love being able to share this part of my life with her. I know not everyone wants to talk WW and food with me all the time, and the fact that we share that makes me happy.
Here is where I’m at for the week!
FitPoints Earned This Week = 40
Remaining Weekly SmartPoints = 12
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
“love the life you live, live the life you love”
Awe. Thanks Ronda! I love that we get to see her as much as we do and I realize I am really fortunate there, but dang it, I miss that kid!
So happy you get to see you son in just a couple of weeks, and then your other son shortly after that! I do better when we have our next visit scheduled, thats for sure.
And on your Savannah lunch? Sometimes ya gotta just let your hair down and enjoy!
How is the walking going??
Hugs back to ya!
Julie
Just loved reading about your weekend and I felt like I was there with you tagging along and it was such fun! =) I TOTALLY understand the mom thing. I miss my kids so much I just feel like my heart hurts sometimes. I KNOW in my head they are in where they need to be working and truly happy and enjoying where they are at….But my HEART wants them here, close to me, under my wing… …always our babies they will be. I will get to see our oldest son in just two weeks when I go to Georgia for his graduation ceremony and then he’ll get to come back to his home which is 3.5 hours away from us. (up until January, he and his family with our two sweet grandbabies lived in our town, so we are STILL adjusting to that move!!) Then in one month, my husband and I will drive to Oklahoma to see our youngest son…. I constantly remind myself that “only the healthy ones leave the nest”… momma hugs to you, Ronda
oh, and by the way, we I go to Georgia, I WILL be going to Mrs Wilkes boarding house in Savannah for lunch AND LEAVING MY WW TRACKER AT HOME!!!!! =)
Thanks Latiffany. It was perfect!
You’re so cute. I loved everything about this comment! Thanks Nancy!
Wonderful pictures! I like the one of you under 37 to go. Deck furniture looks comfy.
I can’t wait until I can have my first grilled brat of the summer.
I can’t grill at my apartment but there will be plenty of festivals in the area this summer.
I have never been a pear person but I do love grilled peaches.
I like Emily Bites recipes also. (You have good recipes too–I would put a smiley face here but I don’t know how on my Kindle–lol.)
Wow! It looks like you had a fantastic weekend! So glad you had some awesome quality time with your family.
