A Light Post

That last post was heavy. Thanks so much for all the love you sent my way!

This is a light post, not to be confused with a light lamp post. Okay, I giggled. I make dad jokes now.

This is not a sponsored post. I’m just sharing a few things I’m loving right now.

Sheets – Who knew they could be life changing?

These night sweats are real and one afternoon I asked my friend Google where I could find “The best sheets for night sweats” and I discovered a company called Sheets & Giggles.

I really wanted to like this company simply based on their name. After visiting their website and finding myself extremely entertained, I knew I wanted to order a sheet set.

These sheets are not only ridiculously soft, but the company is very eco-friendly. All packaging is recyclable and for every order of sheets you buy, they plant a tree. These sheets are made from Eucalyptus and I don’t know anything about textiles, but I now know that these Eucalyptus sheets are the best sheets I’ve ever owned. I’m not sheeting you!

With a quality product and a great sense of humor, even their packaging was entertaining!

I love this card placed in the packaging. That last line. “Thanks for being awesome (and probably good-looking too). All of it made me smile and I hadn’t even slept in the sheets yet!

The best part about these sheets is not only are they extremely comfortable, I’ve not had one night of waking up drenched in sweat. And this corner tag?? Love it.

Farmers Market

I think I’m on week six of Farmers Market shopping. I’m loving all of the fresh produce. The peaches may be my current fav. I gave up eating nightshades (mostly bell peppers and tomatoes) for quite a while and when I realized overall I wasn’t feeling any better by eliminating them, I added them back in, so lots of peppers and tomatoes from the market!

This past Saturday I enjoyed a hint of Fall with a hot coffee and a trip to the market in the rain. I bought some of these mini eggplants but have yet to make them. Super curious though.

Apple Watch?

Remember when my (free!) Fitbit died and I bought that $59 iTouch at Target?

My daughter said, “Mom, that’s dumb. Take it back”, and I didn’t listen.

I was so confident that this was going to do exactly what I needed it to do that I tossed the packaging in the trash as soon as I opened it!

I can’t rate this on a scale of 1-5 because I really can’t even give it a 1. In fact, I’m giving it not one, but two thumbs down.

  • It does not sync to the WW app , so all activity needs to be tracked manually, and I knew that, but didn’t think it would be a deal breaker for me, but it is.
  • It’s impossible to look at your steps from previous days unless you reached your step goal that day. Like, the info just isn’t there if you didn’t reach your goal.
  • The touch screen is super sensitive and when I want to tap, it swipes. When I want to swipe, it taps. It’s more frustrating than anything.
  • To see your heart rate, you have to tap and scroll to tell it to check your heart rate, then it takes forever to get the reading. Not easy to do during a workout and takes so long I was never really sure what my max heart rate was for my workout.
  • Several times I noticed the date, day and time were wrong. It was charged, but having my bluetooth off momentarily seemed to throw everything off on the face of the iTouch.

I really wanted to like this $59 purchase, but it’s a no go for me.

I received a $100 gift card and found an Apple Watch on sale for $199 at Target, so I bought that and I am SO happy that I did. I’m now addicted to this thing and I’m all about closing my three rings everyday. I had no idea what that meant when my daughter would tell me that she did it until I bought the dang thing. If you know, you know.

I did not realize that I would be able to sync all of my iPhone apps with this, so bonus! I’m a big fan.

I’ve walked everyday since August 1 and my 3 mile walks have turned into 4 mile walks for the last two weeks. That’s an extra 7 miles a week! That’s an extra 30 miles a month!

This Vintage Camping Thing

Fall camping is really what I look forward to the most and I have a few trips on the calendar. However, this August Vintage Rally campout was lots of fun. I went on Thursday. Mike came out for the afternoon on Saturday for the festivities since I was only about an hour from home. None of this Vintage camper group believed that I actually had a husband so it was fun introducing him. He was there for the afternoon and when the evening activities rolled around, several people asked me where he went. I told them my Groupon for “rent a husband” was only good for three hours.

My campsite though. I had so much fun making it look cozy. This rocking chair was mine and my mom thinks it was my birthday present when I was two. I thought it looked cute sitting outside of Effie.

The Rally ended on Sunday and I stayed until Tuesday. I loved my cozy little site and it was hard to leave it.

My dad and stepmom were parked just across from me and I owe them all the thanks for getting me interested in this little hobby, although admittedly they are more about the vintage trailer hobby and I’m more about the camping hobby, but I love that we are doing this together.

So many cute trailers over the weekend. There were over 50 trailers there and I only took pictures of a few. We have a big rally coming up soon in Branson and I’ll do a better job of picture taking. And….Mike is coming with us!

I’ll leave you today with this picture from my August trip. A favorite time of the day is this moment right here. The sun is setting. The evening lights come on. Things quiet down. It always feels so cozy to me.

That’s all for the light post today!

I hope you all have something fun planned for your weekend. All things Pumpkin are right around the corner and I’m ready!

Until next time!

  5. Such a fun post and always such a pleasure to see what you’ve been up to! I love that shot of Effie at dusk too. It really is the perfect visual of “cozy!” How fun getting to see all those other vintage campers! I’m glad you all had such a good time. (By the way, in the 6-photo collage of other campers, the middle one on the right … see that vintage Coca Cola ice chest? I have one of those!) I’m so glad you’ve had a better week and things are looking brighter. But light or heavy, we love keeping up with you no matter what. Keep ’em coming, girlfriend!
