Holiday Prep

Hi Friends!

I’ve got my coffee and my pen and paper (old school here) getting ready to make a grocery list. Today I’ve got groceries to buy for Thanksgiving, a house to clean and a fireplace to paint. Our timing for this living room update is impeccable! Sheeesh!!

But no pressure. Honestly last night I was thinking about all of the things I’d like to have done by the time we host dinner next week, and I realized that I wasn’t stressed about any of it. Tess and I were talking on the phone late last night and as we were making plans for grocery shopping and a few things that need to be done, I realized I wasn’t feeling anxious about any of it. We agreed that we are so excited about the fact that we get to celebrate together this year after cancelling last year, that it was really all about being together, and if we happen to have some tasty food to eat, then bonus.

My gift to myself yesterday?

Realizing that I had taken any pressure off of myself to make it the perfect holiday. I highly recommend that gift to yourself!

I am so looking forward to Tess and Manuel arriving here this weekend and having a houseful of family here on Thanksgiving to catch up with and enjoy.

Can we all agree to not stress? Delegate. Everyone will appreciate knowing how they can help. Breathe. Maybe have a clean toilet but I promise you that nobody is looking at your baseboards. Or you know what? Maybe they are. But likely theirs looks just like yours. lol

Focus on being together. That is what most of the memories will be about. Unless of course you have that family member that shows up with the dish that everyone raves about year after year. In that case, lucky you!!

Acvtivity

The trainer gives me Wednesday and Sunday as a rest day and I’m liking this schedule. Wednesday is typically a full day for me so my body is always moving but I do like “permission” I suppose to not have a scheduled workout.

Do you schedule rest days?

More Living Room Fun

When I got home from my Workshop last night, my lamp I’d ordered from Target had been delivered. I knew I needed to assemble it and I was anxious to see if I liked it in person as much as I did online, so I got busy.

I recently heard an artist say….”Instead of buying the things you think you should buy to decorate your home, buy the things you love and make them work in your home”, so that’s what I’m trying to do with the living room. From my grandmas’ piano, my other grandma’s mirror, this kick ass pumpkin chair and a Target lamp, I hope this space all comes together in the end in the way that I want it to. So far I’m really having fun with it.

We are putting the area rug in the living room this weekend and I am stoked!!

Breakfast

I think I have a name for this and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to share an actual recipe in post like a real blogger. lol

Oatmeal Thingymabob, with blueberries topped with 1 T Pure Maple Syrup

Lunch

Dinner

A Trader Joe’s fav. You dump the package (it’s just cauliflower) of veggies in a dry skillet. After a few minutes you add Olive Oil and season as desired. How easy is that?? I added a little shaved parm and added this to some pork tenderloin I had previously grilled and had in the freezer.

Are you hosting Thanksgiving?

Are you a guest?

Are you traveling?

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

How about your favorite Thanksgiving memory?

Do you have a favorite tradition?

Thanks for stopping by today! Now go have an amazing day sweet friends!

  1. Phyllis! I wish you could’ve seen the expression of excitement on my face when you said you are not only a full-time RV year! 😃😃😃 I could come up with a gazillion questions to ask you. Like, how long? What’s your favorite place to stay? Do you travel around or like to stay in one spot? I’m so intrigued! Congratulations on being a five year breast cancer survivor! ❤️❤️❤️ I know berries are a great source of nutrients. I eat blueberries almost every day as well. I add them to any variety of the oatmeal thingymabob. 🤪 I make. Yesterday I added them to my pumpkin version and they were great! You can use fresh or frozen.
I’m so glad you’re following along! Thanks for sharing with me the things in the blog that you like. That’s always so helpful. Chomps does have a website where you can order their sticks. That’s a great idea! Keeping them in the RV. I do like to take them camping as a snack. I’ve also found them at Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, world market, randomly at TJ Maxx. But if you were really wanting to buy some you could check out their website. My favorite flavor is the beef, but I keep all of the varieties on hand.
Thanks again for following along! Wherever you may be today in your RV, I hope it’s a beautiful day for you!

  2. Good morning! I’m loving your little corner with pumpkin chair. Hope it’s all you imagine it will be. I’ve made your pumpkin “thing” a couple of times and really like it so anxious for the new version with blueberries as I eat them every day. I too am an almost 5 year breast cancer survivor and I read once that blueberries are a very good thing to eat with BC so I have some every day. I also love TJ’s but not near one right now so am keeping a list of what you suggest from there and when we’re back in the Phx area (we are full time RVers) I will have an opportunity to shop there. Also may I ask where do you get the Chomps sticks? Order them? They look like a good thing to have in hand for a quick fix. Thanks….love your posts.
