A Visit with Grandpa

A few weeks ago I had decided that it would be fun to have Effie here for Thanksgiving. Kate and Shelby and their kids have camped with us and I’ve had a few of the grandkids over to play in her in my dads backyard, but there are still several family members that haven’t been blessed with her fabulousness.

My dad and stepmom won’t be able to be here on Thanksgiving Day, so going to their house to get Effie was a great opportunity to also get in a visit with Tess and Manuel.

We had a good chat and Dad always has fun showing off some of his toys.

Remember Francis the piano? That piano belonged to my dads mom. In 2007 Dad bought a player piano and needed a place for the other piano (now named Francis) and I was eager to have her.

Yesterday we enjoyed the player piano and I still find this enormous musical toy fascinating!

Enjoy the short video!

This is my birthday card from my pops, who has always had such a creative side to him. Always thinking of fun and unique things to do.

So much detail if you look close. He added several Effie extras. The awning, the outdoor rug, adding my windows to the door and “Effie” at the bottom, my fan, to the very far left on the bottom my Free Library where he wrote “take a book”, to the far right my camp table with miniature Effie and truck on it, my A/C unit on top, the “x” pattern on the bottom representing my diamond plate on the bottom of Effie, my step to come inside. Cracking up with this guy. Always being creative.

It was a good visit with grandpa and I was excited to bring Effie home with me.

When I got her home, I spent the afternoon decorating her inside and out for Christmas. She’s parked in the driveway.

After dinner last night we sat out in Effie having hot cider and hot tea and basically talking about how dang cute she is.

My gift to myself yesterday?

Playing with Effie

Activity

The day got away from me playing with Effie and I was pretty adamant that I didn’t want to get away from my routine this week but I knew it might be hard.

Today is a scheduled rest day but I will do yesterdays workout today.

So much to get done today and I’m working tonight, so off I go for a workout while Tess and Manuel go pick up the smoked turkey. Putting all the tables and chairs in place today and ready for dinner here tomorrow at noon!

Breakfast

Coffee Almond Milk

Lunch

I added some rotisserie chicken to the Butternut Squash Soup to bulk it up a bit, topped with Roasted Plantains.

Snack

Dinner

Manuel back at the grill cooking up burgers and leftover Brussels sprouts on the side.

I don’t like to decorate for Christmas until the Saturday after thanksgiving, but Effie was ready. I had so much fun playing with her yesterday getting her ready to meet the fam. Yes, this is why I never got my exercise in. Worth it though!

Effie is ready to see everyone tomorrow!

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  1. I love that you also love driving around and looking at trees.🤣😍 I wish I would’ve taken piano lessons. I’ll send you an email with his phone number. I’m still on the hunt for a red wine. You let me know if you find one you like! 🍷 ❤️Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

  2. It is Saturday night I am watching a Hallmark movie and was able to read all of your posts for November so far. You are one busy lady. I love Effie decorated! Your living room looks great. I also love driving around looking at trees. LOL
I took piano lessons for 8 years when I was in school many years ago. I didn’t keep up the practicing but I can play. I just don’t make time to play. Who is the piano tuner you used? If I would get it tuned I might practice again.
I found a white sparkling wine I like as I cannot drink any alcohol. It is a little sweet but when it is very cold it is good. I think it is made by Martinelli. Haven’t found a good red wine though.
I am so glad you are posting more it is always fun to hear what you are up to. You know I enjoy the meals you put together.
Enjoy having your daughter and son-in-law for Thanksgiving. Oh and Happy belated Birthday, you look great for 55!!!
