Unchartered Waters
Coronavirus, COVID-19 That’s where we all are now, in uncharteded waters. Age 2. Age 102. We are all a part of this. It has had an affect on all of our lives in one way or another. Days ago wondering “What should I cancel?” “Is it okay to go?” “How do we do this?” What. Is. Happening? Each day has brought more cancelations, more closures, more restrictions, more information. I seem to just take it in and say “okay” with very little emotion. Many of the things that we are trying to make decisions on have been made for us. Our daughter Tess was to be a bridesmaid in her best friends wedding this past Saturday in Florida. Cancelled. She and her husband both work at Southwest Airlines and her particular job is incredibly stressful right now. They are now working from home. Our son Jake and his wife Jordan […]
Tea Time
I absolutely love a warm drink. Coffee. Tea. Heck, I’ll drink warm lemon water. I like the routine of it. I like holding a warm mug. I like the smell. I really like it when the hubs brings me that first cup of coffee in the morning while I’m still in bed. I like the feeling I get just thinking about that first cup of coffee each morning and my cup of hot tea in the evening before bed. I think I get almost as much satisfaction from thinking about my warm mugs of yumminess as I do drinking them. Someone tell me they get me. I recently received an email asking if I would like to try a cacao loose leaf tea. I was intrigued and accepted. I am absolutely loving this Cacao Tea. Thank you Jessica for sending me this! It has a very mild chocolate flavor without […]
Creating Spaces
You’re likely tired of my word for 2020, “Create”. Or maybe you’re not? This word seems to be swirling around in my head in most things I do lately. It might in fact be my new favorite word. I’ve recently been focused on creating spaces. While I am truly enjoying my new work space in my basement office (why didn’t I do that long ago?), I’m now working on spaces for playing and relaxing. I’m creating spaces that spark joy. Shout out to Marie Condo! Okay, that made me giggle a little bit. I’m working on a few things in Effie, my travel trailer, and I’m super excited to share those soon! I’ve asked my mom to make me some new curtains (I should learn how to sew. She also made my first set but now I’ve changed my mind on the vibe I want.) for Effie and I’m headed […]
Oprah’s 2020 Vision
Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus (a partnership with WW) is touring in 9 major cities and began on January 5th with Lady Gaga as the special guest in Ft. Lauderdale. The tour ends on March 7th in Denver with Gayle King as the special guest. On February 15th, I went to see Oprah at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, along with 17,000 other people. I was interested to see how Oprah was going to inspire and encourage the 17,000 attendees to live their best life. Her guest for the day was Tracee Ellis Ross, star of Blackish and daughter of Diana Ross. She was great! The day was filled with upbeat energetic music, Oprah sharing her own WW journey along with past weight loss and weight gain stories, an awesome interview with special guest Tracee Ellis Ross, a high energy short dance class led by Julianne Hough […]
So Much Excitement!
Kansas City is booming with energy after that Super Bowl LIV win! Mike is such a quiet guy on a daily basis, but when it comes to sports his personality does a 180. He is like a kid right now and it’s kinda cute. I think I’m just as excited for him as I am for the players on the team! The city is lit up in RED! So proud of our team. I made a few simple things for Super Bowl Sunday and the only thing I ate that I wished that I hadn’t was my fingernails. I know. Gross. That was an INTENSE 4th quarter!! The last couple of weeks have been full of accomplishments and surprises. I’ve had several task that I approached with intent based on my word for the year, CREATE. I’ve kept that word in the front of my mind each day of the […]
Starting 2020 Strong
Today it’s colder than a wi…………… well, it’s really cold. Icy roads, schools cancelled and most morning WW Workshops closed as well, so I took the opportunity to curl up by the fire and say hi to you all. I chose “Create” as my word for the year. Creating boundaries, creating spaces and creating routines were at the top of the Create list. Creating a routine was something I really wanted to do for 2020. Being back in the yoga studio has reminded me how strong I feel when I am there and how much I appreciate what my body can do for me. I have created a Yoga schedule for the week and that feels really good. I put my yoga classes and walks in my calendar as an appointment with myself. This is feeling really good. I got in a nice brisk walk before the Chiefs win on […]
My “2020” Word
I like this idea and I am asking WW members in the workshops if they choose a word for the year and many of them do! I put this question on Instagram stories and these are just a few of the great words people are using. I’ve really been putting some thought into my word for the year. Choosing Gratitude and then adding Mindful really worked well for me last year. I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to get out of this year and I now have my word. “Create“ I’d like to I am going to (ya see what I did there?) create spaces for relaxing, create routines for activity and bedtime, create art, create activities to do with the family and create boundaries in several different areas of my life. This feels really good to think through. If you haven’t done it, go ahead and give it […]

I’ve got a mouthful today. Or is it a fingerful if your’e typing? Fingerful? Yeah, I kinda like it. The New Blog Look I’m ecstatic to be starting off the New Year by writing this post with my new look on the blog! Softer colors, (Thank you Tess for the new Graphic up above. ‘Tis the Season
It’s 5:00 am on Sunday the 22nd and I’m so excited I can’t sleep. I’m like a kid on Christmas morning…..and I don’t hate it. We are having our family Christmas today and I love knowing the house will be full and we have all sorts of fun things planned for today. I decided since I was wide awake that this was the perfect opportunity to start the coffee pot, turn on the tree lights, enjoy a fire and curl up on the couch and come in here to say hi and get caught up just a tad. December has really flown by, as has 2019. I said at the beginning of the year that 2019 was going to be a great year and it did not disappoint. What a full and happy year it has been. I’ll get in a recap next week (hopefully) and the blog construction should […]
