Making a List, Checking it Twice

These last four days have been filled with Christmas shopping, Christmas shopping and then some more Christmas shopping. With our family Christmas this weekend, I’ve made a list, I’ve checked it twice, nobody’s naughty, I think they’re all nice. Each Christmas season, I tell myself that I will simplify things for myself the following year when preparing for Christmas. Although I have discovered a few things that make the holidays less stressful, I always end up doing more than I know that I need to do. Looking for ways to feel less stressed this year? Here is what I’m doing so I can enjoy more time spent with family and friends and less time yelling at Mike. That guy takes the brunt of my stress. If you need to say “no”, or you want to say “no”, then by all means say “no”. Your health and well being likely depend on it! If sending out […]

Shopping, Snowing, Smiling

Yesterday was the first day that I’ve done any Christmas shopping (except for a few things that I recently bought online). We are celebrating Christmas here on December 17th!! I’m scroooged. (cracking myself up) I gotta get busy! I’ve got a menu to plan, stockings to stuff, presents to buy and wrap! I have a feeling that no Christmas Cards will go out this year. How is it that the time goes by so dang fast??? I left the house at 7:30 am and came home around 6:00 pm. I got a lot done, loved my day of shopping and sipping on hot tea while I drove around, and to make it all just a bit more festive, we had our first snow flake. They were small, but I liked the feel of the snow flakes falling and I was feeling the Christmas spirit.   While shopping, would you believe that I found […]

I Didn’t Even Throw Up

I did it. I lead my first Weight Watcher meeting. I didn’t throw up, or stutter, or go blank in the middle of a sentence. I imagined everyone in their underwear and the meeting went great!. Kidding. But just to make them giggle, I did think about asking them to take off their clothes so I wouldn’t be so nervous. I decided to relax, be myself and utilize the tools that I learned in training over the weekend. There were about 40 members in the meeting and they were all so nice and welcoming. I know what it is like to go into your WW meeting, only to discover your fabulous Leader has a sub. Yesterday, not only was I a sub, but I was brand spanking new! Carol is my mentor/trainer and the Leader of the meeting that I was able to do Tuesday morning. She has been wonderful to me […]

Officially official!

Yay! What a great weekend. I must say, this was a whole new experience for me. I’ve never worked at a job where I’ve been to any type of formal training. I was really anxious about the weekend and I had a lot of fears and anxiety going into these last three days. I think my biggest fear, as I’m sure was felt by so many of us at Leader training this weekend, was standing up in front of a group of people and speaking. A large part of me had decided that since I was so comfortable talking and sharing in my own Friday morning Weight Watcher meeting, that it wouldn’t be a big deal. Another part of me knew that now all eyes would be on me, and I just might be a nervous wreck.  What did I learn this weekend that will help me the most in being […]

It’s Really Happening!

Tomorrow morning, I leave for Dallas to finalize my Weight Watcher Leader Training. Finally! What a great way to end the year! I come home on Sunday, and although I don’t have a regular meeting of my own yet, Carol, my awesome trainer, is letting me lead one of her meetings on Tuesday! That’s like in FIVE days!! This begins another chapter (probably the most exciting chapter) for me in my weight loss journey. My weight loss journey has become so much more than just a number on the scale or the size of my clothes. I have discovered how good “healthy” feels, how to appreciate my body for all of the things that it can do when I take good care of it, and I’ve learned to focus on all of the positive changes that I have made in the last few years, instead of focusing on any negative […]

Cleaning Up and Catching Up!

My plan over a busy and rather long Thanksgiving/Birthday holiday was to make the best choices possible, drink plenty of water and get in lots of activity. Seven of the eleven nights that Tess and Manuel were here visiting from Dallas, we had something on the calendar. I had a family birthday party one day, a small birthday party with some girlfriends another day, then dinner out on my actual birthday, we had two baby showers, one a party at night with couples, the other at a winery during the day, of course we had Thanksgiving Day, and we had a family sleepover the day after Thanksgiving. I did say “no” several times to food and beverage, but I also said “Yes” more times than I should have to food that I didn’t need, and of course to, beer. These last three days have been filled with clean eats and […]

Stopping By to Say Hi!

The last 11 days have been full of family, friends and fun. We took Tess and Manuel to the airport last night and it felt like our Thanksgiving break was officially over. You know when I haven’t blogged in a while, I always feel the need to write a novel and catch the blog up on every single day. I don’t have time for that right now, but plan to do so tomorrow. For today, I will say that my birthday was great, Thanksgiving was great, coffee chats by the fire were great, the baby showers that we attended were great and our first annual family sleepover the day after Thanksgiving was great. I ate like crap, and now my body feels like crap. The last two days I’ve gotten back on track with a long walk on Saturday and a hot yoga class on Sunday, The last two days […]

Family, Friends and Traditions

I picked up my daughter and her boyfriend at the airport at midnight on Wednesday. I’m not really sure how they both were able to pull this off, but they are going to be here until the 27th! That’s 11 days with me!! Besides working the food truck and a few WW meetings, here is what is going on for the next 11 days. Two Baby Showers for one of our friends. Tess was in her wedding, so I am really happy that she is able to be here for the showers. My 50th! (You know that I’m taking full advantage of as many days to celebrate as possible) One birthday celebration is a family day at Top Golf with all the kids and grandkids. I have a birthday breakfast planned with a few close loved ones, another birthday get together with a very small group of close friends. On my birthday night, dinner […]

Fall Trees. That is All.

We planted two maple trees in the backyard just a few years ago (five?) and I absolutely love them. We planted them for privacy, but I’m so glad that we did because I am really enjoying them in the fall. Soon, the leaves will fall, and we will again be aware of the fact that we can almost reach out and touch our next door neighbor. I think that this one is called a Brandywine? It is much more purple than it appears in this picture. I seriously just stand there and look at it. It makes getting up in the morning to let the dogs out just a tad easier. Love….     I can’t remember the name of this maple, but this is my view while sitting on the deck. It’s a good place for morning coffee, and maybe even a blog post. Fall trees, that is all. Here are […]

A Full Few Days!

When it’s been a few days since I’ve blogged, I never really know if to blog about what I did, or what I ate! I’ll blog a little about what I did, and if it doesn’t seem to be turning into a novel, I’ll throw in some food pics too! Friday day was a Food Truck work day. Friday night was a quiet night at home with a girlfriend chatting over wine while I did some food prep in the kitchen. Saturday was a full on play day with that same friend. Everybody needs a good Saturday play day once in a while! I picked her up in the convertible, with the top down, (it was a tad chilly) and off we went to the City Market. We walked, shopped and bought just a few items. I bought this. I can not, for the life of me, remember what kind of squash it is, but […]
