A Great Mother’s Day!

Well, breakfast with my mom was cancelled due to her migraine headache, and I didn’t get to see Tess, but I still had a really great Mother’s Day! I slept in. As I woke up, Mike kissed me on the cheek and told me “Happy Mother’s Day”, and out of no where, both dogs appeared directly above my head, as if they were also saying “Happy Mother’s Day!” I enjoyed my first cup of coffee on the deck, and Mike catered to me all morning. We headed over to his folks at around noon for a big lunch and an afternoon in the backyard playing with the Grandkids! All of the mom’s relaxed on the deck while Papa Mike got some exercise!  It was a combo of Hide and Seek, and Nerf Gun Battle!   I’m not sure who was having more fun with the Nerf Gun’s, Papa Mike or […]

Running With The Cow’s!

This was the 5th Annual Running With The Cow’s Half Marathon and 5K! This was my first time running in it, but certainly not my last. This race was at a Catholic Parish in a rural part of town. The 5K was down a two lane road with open green fields on both sides of the road (I assume the half marathon was the same.) I tried to take in the view while I was running. The location was perfect!  The sun was shining and there was a nice breeze. This race was so well organized, so much fun, lot’s of great volunteer’s, lot’s of great runners and walker’s, and FOOD! Oh my goodness, the FOOD! It was ONE – BIG – Church Pot Luck Dinner! Sweets, Lasagne, Pizza, Burrito’s, Chicken Sandwiches, Sub Sandwiches, An entire table of Cinnamon Roll’s, fruit, granola bars, BBQ, McDonald’s, The Corner Bakery, and on […]

“Stop and Smell the Roses”

While taking my little break from things here recently, I thought a lot about how the simplest things had become so overwhelming for me and how I didn’t like that I had let that happen. What was I doing wrong that was making everything in life feel so BIG?? That phrase…”Stop and smell the roses”, was floating around and around in my head, and I knew I wasn’t doing that, and I knew that I wanted to be. I knew that I needed to be. Sometimes, I feel like I am hurrying to do everything, even it’s just unloading the dishwasher or letting the dogs out before I leave the house for the day. I hurry them out, then I hurry them back in! Rush, rush, rush. I hurry my shower, I drink my coffee too fast. I’m making a phone call as I’m walking out the door. I’m constantly […]

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Third Anniversary “The Weight of My Weight”! May 9, 2011, I started writing my blog. I had no idea what I was actually doing, but I knew I needed to write. Here is my first post. I started my weight loss journey at 207 pounds. This is day one of my blog. It has taken me about six weeks to figure out how to do a blog………probably shouldn’t be admitting that? I hope by putting it all out there, I will be able to reach my weight loss goal with a little humor, and hopefully encourage others to do the same. I plan to blog about the food I eat, my excercise routine, my mood and how it affects my weight loss, and recipes I’ve found that make the weight loss journey and the lifestyle change a bit more enjoyable! I hope you’ll follow me! I needed to journal my […]

Hump Day…..

I really had no idea what day of the week it was when I rolled out of bed yesterday morning. I was happy when I realized it was Wednesday though.  Since I watched Baby Charlotte for the month of April, I had been missing out on working at The Beauty of the Bistro Food Truck on Wednesday’s!  If you live close to me, check out the lunch menu. It is awesome! Sidney, the owner, is always looking for something new and different to add to the menu. She had mentioned a few new sandwich ideas, and boy did she hit the jackpot! Have you heard of a Banh Mi Sandwich?  I had not. Apparently it is traditionally a Vietnamese sandwich served with pork, mayo, pickled carrots, and cilantro. She made a chicken version that was CRAZY GOOD! Buttered Toasted French Bread, Marinated Chicken, Chipotle Mayo, Pickled Carrots, Cucumber and Jalapeno’s. It was […]

A Good Night’s Sleep!

Vacations are always so much fun, and the anticipation before a trip is always so exhilarating, but there is nothing like coming home and sleeping in your own bed after you’ve been away from it for a while. I’ve had two really good night’s of sleep (advil PM assisted) and I spent most of yesterday simply drinking water. I feel soooo much better this morning. The Trolley Run!

I was a little nervous for the 4 Mile Trolley Run this morning. I had a couple of beers after mowing the lawn yesterday, then some wine last night at a neighbor’s house. I basically skipped dinner, and woke up a little puffy this morning after not drinking enough water yesterday. Not the best physical condition to go RUN four miles. I really hadn’t even decided if I was going to run it, or walk most of it.  We got all lined up. There were over 10,000 participants. The crowd was pumped, I was starting to feel pumped. The temperature was perfect, and all of a sudden, I decided I would run to the three mile marker, no stopping. Not for a drink, not to tie my shoe, not to catch a breath. Just run. My little, nice, slow pace. So I did. Around 3.25 I took a short break, […]

Stuffed Mushroom’s

Charlotte was taking the longest nap EVER, so I cleaned out the fridge and made myself a yummy lunch with the veggies that I found! I had some zucchini, red bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. I prepped my mushrooms by washing them and removing the stems. Then I sautéed my diced veggies in a little Butter infused Olive Oil and added Sea Salt and Black Pepper.   Then I decided to add a little cooked quinoa. I almost always have this stuff in the fridge now! I added a few wedges of Laughing Cow Cheese to hold it all together, and really, this cheese taste great on ANYTHING!   I gave it all a good stir and took a few bites! It was delicious!!   Before stuffing the few mushrooms that I had, I baked them in the oven, open side down, on a cookie sheet sprayed with […]

#babymugging??

I am having so much fun taking pictures of Charlotte! I follow a lot of interesting people on Instagram. Do you? mommyshorts is one of my favorite people that I follow. She did a bit on #babysuiting.   I’m not sure where #babymugging came from, but when I discovered it last night, I knew what Charlotte and I would be spending our morning doing.   And since it’s Thursday, and my girlfriend sent this to me last week, why not join in on a little TBT?   I LOVED the 80’s!!! “love the life you live, live the life you love”
