I was recently asked if I used Greek Yogurt in my smoothies, and I said that I didn’t because I make mine with protein powder. 1 scoop of protein powder has 27 g of protein, so I never really thought about adding any more. Well, then I was curious about the texture. I assumed it would be really thick, and that the extra protein would really stay with me for a long time, so why not give it a try. I made one the other day with 1/2 scoop of protein powder, and it was really good, but out of curiosity, and trying to eat more protein anyhow, I made THIS one yesterday. Enjoy! “love the life you live, live the life you love”
An Overdue “Reflection”
Reflection I haven’t done a “Reflection” post in quite a while. If I’m honest, which I do like to be, especially here, I have to admit that my exercise habits these last few weeks have been terrible! I don’t know why. I have no good reason. I had gotten in such an awesome habit of exercising 5-6 days a week, no problem! I really don’t even remember what threw me off, or what excuse I made, but for some reason, the excuses continued and I completely have gotten out of one of the best habits I had developed!!! That changes today. No excuses. I remember learning from “coach”……For each day that you exercise, you strengthen your body, for each day that you don’t, you decay. I don’t want to decay!!! Well, the fat can decay, that’s cool, but not the good stuff!!! So, back to 5-6 days of exercise…..EVERY WEEK! […]
“To Do List” Day…..
Monday was all about getting sh*t done! I was determined to get everything on my list done, including an extra long walk, which I hadn’t done in tooooo many days. I had laundry to do, the lawn to mow, blogging to do (yesterday’s blog includes all of my recipes from “Four Weeks of Chicken” ), miles to walk and a few more chores to get done around the house. It all got done! That 7.5 mile walk felt awesome!! I have a new list for today, so I’m keeping this short. Here are yesterday’s eats…… Breakfast Snack Lunch Snack Dinner Refresh…I can eat 26 points a day. I can earn Activity Points by doing exercise, and eat them if I choose. I have an allowance of 49 points that I can dip into if I chose. I should drink a minimum of 6 (8 oz) glasses […]
“Four Weeks Of Chicken”, All in This Post!! And I Weigh 155!!
This is my first blog post since Friday and so much has happened!! Let me start with…..I finally broke through 157 and I now weigh 155! That’s 52 pounds lost and 5 pounds to go to GOAL!! I’m super excited! I spent Friday afternoon doing a little shopping with a friend in the West Bottoms, which is always a great time! I found just a couple more items to add to the new bedroom…… Love this….. I really just needed something for this wall, and it was blue……but it makes me giggle…. I love this little skate case, but it makes me want to redo my Master, in Black and Cream….. I had this vase, and I just keep bringing in sticks from the yard! (and little spiders….oops) Um, had to have it….. I needed to fill the empty space on this wall……. […]
Not Your Mama’s Chicken Soup!
When I opened the fridge on Thursday morning, I realized how full it was of veggies that needed to be eaten! I hate throwing away food, but it seems like no matter how hard I try, I sometimes end up with extra produce that gets tossed. I was determined to use as much of it as I could for dinner. I had decided to use some of the rotisserie chicken that I had in the freezer for our dinner, but I hadn’t really decided exactly what I was going to make. I finally decided on soup. Chicken Soup. Then I decided I would make something similar to Chicken and Noodles, but with Quinoa. I knew I had onions, celery, carrots, quinoa and chicken broth. No need to go to the store for anything! Easy Peasy, well, except there are no peas in this soup. I started with some Olive Oil, […]
Honey Mustard Chicken Salad
My “Four Week Chicken Challenge” is winding down, and I really can’t believe how many recipes I have accumulated that I haven’t made yet! I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest searching for Chicken Recipes, and now I have a ton that I want to try!!! Maybe I’ll add another week to my Chicken Challenge??? Nah……But I do have several recipes yet to try, and if they are a success, I will be adding them to my nicely growing list of “Low Point Meals” under the “Recipe” tab at the top of this page. For the recipe I am posting today, I was thinking Chicken Salad, but I didn’t want one that was heavy with mayo, so I was thinking mustard? I really only started liking mustard in the last couple of years. I’m amazed at how my taste buds are still changing as I get older. There’s […]
Apple Cider Baked Chicken
We had the best spontaneous Family Dinner on Tuesday night! I had planned to keep things simple and bring home some pizza, but after looking at the pictures of this particular recipe for Apple Cider Baked Chicken on Pinterest, I decided to go ahead and cook for everyone. It looked like a great Fall Dish, and I am completely feeling everything Fall right now. I believe I have purchased anywhere from 1 – 5 pumpkins, every day, for the last five days…… Two of our daughters and the three grandchildren were coming over for dinner, but once our son got word of food, he and our daughter-in-law came too! I’m just teasing of course. I had decided earlier in the day to double the recipe, and now I knew why. I was so happy to have the house full unexpectedly on a Tuesday night! The fact that they are all […]
The New Guest Room….and Chicken!!
The Guest Room I’ve had a great time working on this little project. I’ve had this color scheme in my mind for a while now. I wanted this room to be different from any other room in our house. Once I decided on just the right “blue” for the walls, I was on a mission! I bought new bedding, new curtains, new towels and a new lamp, but I “re-used” many items that were either already in the room, or scattered throughout the house somewhere. Here’s a little tour….. This Wall Before……. This Wall After…… I bought a few “Knick Knacks” at Hobby Lobby over the weekend for 50% off!! I already had the little black shelf. I also had the “E” in Tess’ room before, and so she doesn’t feel like I’ve completely kicked her out, (even though she does live in Dallas), I kept it in “her” […]
I Can Really Focus…..But Only On One Thing At a Time, Please!!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. When I get focused on something, THAT’S the only thing I seem to be able to focus on! I put all of my energy and time into it, and everything else moves to the bottom of the list, in no order. All equally at the bottom. If I’m focused on a new workout schedule, laundry and other household chores seem to move to the bottom of the list. If my focus is strictly meal planning for the week, then I’m awesome at that, and sucky at everything else for that week. Once I am able to move “workouts” and “meal planning” into some sort of schedule, then I am able to get back on track, but in the beginning, when I make the change, adjusting seems to make me forever. These are silly examples, I know, but my inability to focus […]
Parade Today! Hope the Rain Waits!!
Slacking on blogging the last two days, busy as heck with everything else!! I am proud to say that my newly decorated guest room is coming along nicely and might be done before I go to bed Sunday night!!! Pictures to come….. The Downtown Overland Park Parade that my dad and I have been preparing for is today, and the forecast does NOT look good!! But I’m heading out the door anyhow to see what Pop’s wants to do. I owe my readers a chicken recipe for Thursday and Friday. I did make something “chicken” on Thursday, but Friday night we went out to dinner. I’ll be cooking a Chicken “Pinterest” recipe for tonights dinner and staying in, so hopefully I can write a nice long blog tomorrow and catch you all up on my current weight, where I am at mentally about my current weight, and my plans for […]
