I’ve been going to Weight Watcher meetings on a regular basis now since September of 2009. I love my leader and I love my meetings. A couple of weeks ago, my leader asked me to share my success story at one of her up coming meetings. I was excited that she had asked me to share my story, but since I’ve gained some of my weight back and I seem to be holding on to it, I felt weird being a success story. Then I was reminded that up’s and down’s are a part of the journey and people that are on their own weight loss journey need to know that can be a normal part of the journey. The important thing is to remember this is a lifestyle, and you never quit. So I gladly went to the meeting last night and I shared my story along with two other members.
We were asked four questions. Here are those questions along with my answers.
Getting Started with Weight Watchers
1. How did you feel before you started Weight Watchers?
I felt out of control, in many different areas of my life.
2. What helped you believe you could change?
Honestly, for a long time, I wasn’t sure that I could. But after going to meetings over and over again, and listening to other Weight Watcher members talk and share, I knew that a lot of them were feeling and thinking the exact same things that I was feeling and thinking, and they were losing weight and succeeding. I finally began to believe that I could do it too.
3. How did you feel when you reached your goal weight?
I felt confident, proud and most of all, I felt healthy!
4. How do you ensure that your relationship with food is changing?
That’s a tough one.
I have a lot of trigger foods and I still struggle with portion control. For me, to be successful, I have to keep all trigger foods out of my house. When I am surrounded by trigger foods, I often lose control. If I’m really wanting to eat a large portion of food, then I try to choose a food that is low in points.
I talked a little bit too about how I had gained some of my weight back and that I am not currently at my goal weight, but instead of focusing on the number on the scale and being frustrated or disappointed in myself, I am focusing on all of the positive changes that I have made, and how healthy I now feel.
We were asked to bring a quote, and I shared the quote that I finished my blog with yesterday.
The good habits that I’ve formed, are what keeps me coming back to the basics of Weigh Watchers.
Okay, speaking of the basics, I have GOT to get back to my fruits and veggies today!
I’ve also got some miles to catch up on! I’m just a few behind schedule!
