My Motivation for the Day

No matter where I seem to be in my journey, sometimes I lose my spunk. I get side tracked. I forget to apply the things that I’ve learned. That’s when I start to seek motivation.

I can find motivation in a lot of different places, but sometimes I need to remember to take the time to look for it. I like to say that my main motivation is my health, but sometimes that doesn’t completely do it for me, so I find motivation in other places.

Sometimes I look at old pictures of myself at my highest weight and I’m reminded how I never want to be there again. Sometimes I’ll skim through a fitness magazine and read the personal stories of the people featured in the magazine. Sometimes I read my own blog around the time I reached my goal weight in the summer of 2013 and I am reminded at what I was doing then that helped me to be successful. Hearing about other peoples success can motivate me too.

Recently, I started recording the TV show, Extreme Weight Loss.  I’ve watched it in seasons past, and I’m always super emotional after each episode. There is typically so much emotional baggage that goes along with carrying extra weight. These people completely transform their bodies and their mindset over a 12 month period. So many of them say things about themselves that I have felt at times. So many of them have so many obstacles to overcome. I’m always so impressed with them and so happy to see their success at the end of the show.

After watching an episode, I feel recharged and eager to eat right and exercise hard.

Yesterday morning, I watched two episodes and completely feel in love with the two women that were featured on the show. It made me eager to eat right, exercise hard and take good care of myself yesterday.

The entire time I was at Jazzercise yesterday, I imagined how hard some of those people on the show work out in those first few months when they are 100+ pounds overweight. I exercised hard yesterday. I jumped high. I kicked up those knee’s high. When she said skip, I rocked that skip. I’m certain that was my most intense workout at Jazzercise yet! It felt great knowing that I could work that hard, and again I reminded myself how far I have come physically and mentally.

Between listening to my body in Yoga this week and watching Extreme Weight Loss, I’m feeling pretty motivated to continue down the healthy living road.

What’s your motivation?

When you feel like quitting, think about why you started. If that doesn’t do it for you, find something that does.

  1. The ability to walk is a great motivator, Nancy. Hope you are doing well and getting into your school routine!

    Keep at it girl!

    🙂

  2. My motivation is the ability to walk.
I don’t want to be a prisoner of my body.
I also keep a journal with sayings like the ones you print each day.
Oh I almost forgot blogs like yours–they are very motivational.
