Camp Season 2020

I finally made it to a campground this past weekend and I am SO happy that I made the decision to add A/C to my little Effie. She cooled down within minutes of turning her on and it was a hot hot weekend!

I took my grand daughter Amiyah with me and although she is only 10 years old, it felt like I took a girlfriend with me.

She spent the night at our house Thursday night and we headed over to my dads house Friday morning to follow my dad and stepmom for our 150 mile drive east into Missouri.

I camped at this same campground last year and I remembered that crossing the Missouri river was absolutely gorgeous! I was excited to have someone with me in the car to share the drive with. She seemed to enjoy it just as much as I did! The picture doesn’t do it justice though.

I was also excited to take Amiyah to the trail that I discovered last year.

When we got to the spot that I enjoyed so much last year, we saw and a snake swim right by us in the water. I don’t know my snakes and I don’t care to know my snakes. It was then that Amiyah suggested we spend the afternoon back at the campground, at the pool.

I totally agreed.

She was up for doing anything I wanted to do and eating anything I wanted to eat.

Friday night we cooked Chicken Brats on sticks over the campfire. Delicious.

Breakfast Saturday morning, bacon and eggs cooked outside. A lot of first for me this trip.

The campfire nachos Saturday afternoon were a hit. Layered chips, taco meat (I cooked up some Turkey Taco meat to take) cheese, then layer again, and then again. Cover with foil and set over campfire, or in this case, outside over electric burner. Then we added extra toppings.

I took several Avocados and we smashed these up for a yummy additional topping. One oddball almost perfectly round avocado in this bag of mini avocados.

Yogurt and fruit for a refreshing snack after we spent hours playing together in the pool.

S’mores Friday. Fudge Striped Cookies make for an easy S’more.

Hanging with Dad and Christy telling jokes, eating marshmallows.

Fajitas for dinner late Saturday night. I cooked these outside in the dark. Sooooo many bugs. Probably ate a few. After dinner, some more s’mores, cuz, why not?

Sunday morning Chocolate Chip Pancakes. Seriously, isn’t she just adorable?

So many cute Vintage Trailers in our group this year. Lots of friendly campers roaming the campground visiting.

First camping trip of 2020 was a success and I’m so happy this sweet girl was a part of it.

We ended our trip with a nice cold treat on our trip home!

On the drive home I asked Amiyah what her favorite part of our weekend was, assuming she would say the time we spent at the pool, but she said it was sitting around the campfire Saturday night with my dad and Christy. I love that kid.

What are you doing for fun this month?
