Father’s Day 2020

We had family over this weekend and it was wonderful!! I was so wrapped up in seeing everyone and interacting and having conversations that I have very few pictures of any of it, which really tells me I was fully in the moment and that makes me happy.

I did however snap a couple of pictures of Mike enjoying his Father’s Day afternoon. It’s always something around here. The ice maker went caput and then Mike stole mowing from me Sunday.

Saturday night our son Jake, his wife and daughter, along with our daughter Anne and her husband and kids came over for burgers and dogs.

Sunday morning my in-laws came over for coffee and donuts on the deck. This was the first time they have been to our house in months so they had not seen the screened in deck and it was so nice to have a shaded place to sit and relax and visit with them.

Sunday evening my dad and stepmom came over for a Lasagna dinner and it was also their first time here in several months.

It was nice to be able to spread out the visits over the weekend as we still try to maneuver safely through coronavirus.

We also spent the weekend having some great conversations. I know for our family, we typically don’t have conversations around politics, religion or social issues because nobody wants a conflict on a holiday get together, right? Well, we talked about that. The fact that we don’t spend much time talking about some of the important things. Maybe we’ve been missing out on some great conversations? Maybe when we get together we need to be having the difficult conversations. I mean, if you can’t sit down with your own family and have difficult conversations, then who can you do that with? We’ve got Democrats and Republicans and me. lol. I came out of the weekend feeling proud that we were able to talk about all that is happening in our world right now. We even still like each other.

I hope that you are able and willing to have some of those difficult conversations with your family and friends.

It was our first weekend being able to fully utilize our new deck and patio for the fam!

I had crafts for the kids if they wanted to make Father’s Day cards.

Cortney and his new little baby Kapri.

She is of course, precious.

Anne with her four. I can’t believe she has four!

It felt so good to hold her…….

Kate Update

Kate is recovering and working on adding in solid food. She was struggling with dehydration for a few days, but has a handle on it now and this is her progress! She’s down 30 lbs!

Kate and her family spent Father’s Day weekend on their first camping trip in their Pop-up camper they purchased several months ago. I can’t wait to camp with them!

WW Update

This is a big week in the WW Studios! We are opening 400 locations across the US on Wednesday and Thursday for Drop and Shop hours. Members will be able to come into the studio to weigh in with a Coach and shop for product. Then on Saturday we will be having Workshops following the Saturday schedule for that particular Studio with Limited Attendance. Staff and members will be required to wear mask, members will be required to weigh with shoes on and the chairs will be arranged to safely practice social distancing. I’ll be working at one of the Studios on Thursday from 1-5 and I’m looking forward to getting into the studio to have some personal interaction with members.

All Virtual Workshops will continue and I’m happy about that as well. This will be an interesting week to see how many members are interested in the Drop and Shop hours simply for the accountability of having an in person weigh in and being able to have a conversation about how their journey has been going over the last few months.

If you are a WW Member, is your studio opening this week?

Lots of Walking

I’ve been walking 3-4 miles daily and it feels so good to stay moving, but I really need to add in some strength training on a regular basis. I’m working on that this week.

I’m keeping this short. I’ve had all sorts of tech issues these last two days and being able to write this short and simple post took hours. I resolved my computer issues, but this girl needs a break from looking at the screen.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that your week is off to a great start!

  1. I’m so sorry for such a late reply! So this strength training thing. I’ve never had a regular routine but have always enjoyed doing a variety of exercises. I feel like I need to establish a regular arm workout. I need advice from a pro!! 😆 I’ll work on that. Until then I figure regular sets of bicep curls, tricep dips and push ups might be a good start!! Our walks are doing our bodies SO much good!! We are so much alike! 😂 I’d like a plan too! I’ll keep you posted! 😘

  2. I just love your blogs- as so often we are just on the same page and you can articulate into words what I am feeling – and that helps me process!
Love this: “there’s republicans and democrats …. and me”. THATS me too! Don’t know what I am other than I DO know (And have a strong sense of) what is right and what is wrong.
Also as you know I too have been doing really well at daily walks BUT need to add strength training as I know that’s what this older physical body needs on several different levels – toning, muscle building, bone building/health, metabolism… but I just don’t know what to do and how to start – i’m one of these people that I have to know the whole plan before I just start in. My DIL keeps telling me just do something one day, but I need to know the WHOLE six-month plan, 😩 …so therefore I just don’t start anything. So I will anxiously be awaiting your updates!
