Bugs and dirt and all the outside activity we could get in! It was so fun having two of our grand daughters spend the weekend with us. We haven’t seen these two in a long time and it was nice to feel their sweet hugs, bugs and dirt included.
First a little catching up on other stuff.
Just when I think I have adapted to a new routine, I don’t. You know, like daily blogging? Ugh.
It was a rather crazy week last week. We opened over 400 WW Studios around the country for Drop & Shop Hours on Wednesday and Thursday and Limited Availability Workshops on Saturday. You can now attend a Workshop in select Studios by booking a spot through your WW App! I worked the Drop & Shop on Thursday and I got to see real live WW Members at our Merriam, Kansas Studio! It was so nice to connect in person with members.
There was quite a bit of training last week in preparation for our opening. We had detailed cleaning instructions of the studio and we had to learn new updates to our system. We will continue to do our Virtual Workshops moving forward. I miss seeing my peeps in person but I do love the convenience of Virtual Workshop and how they allow me to see people in other states that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to see otherwise. You know who you are!
I set up in the studio to do my Zoom Workshops before and after the Drop & Shop. I practiced wearing my mask. My glasses keep fogging up!
Thursday made for a long but fun day interacting with my WW Peeps while also getting to know my co-worker better. We had only worked together a few times before the Studios closed in March. I’ve now learned that she is the mom of four young boys and she too loves camping!!
Moving forward this week with WW, we will again have Drop & Shop hours at select studios on Wednesday and Thursday with Limited Attendance Workshops this week on Friday, due to being closed on Saturday the 4th of July.
Is your Studio Open? What did you think?
Mike is continuing to work on the garage but I didn’t take any pictures of it over the weekend. The cabinet parts were delivered and he spent the majority of the weekend assembling them. There’s like…….a ton of cabinets. He’s a cabinet maker….so there’s that. I’ll get some pics of the progress this week. I know many of you are anxiously awaiting garage remodel pics.
I’m currently reading/listening to three books. I never do that as I typically like to finish one before moving on to the next. I’m reading The Crown, which I am loving. Great book to curl up with and forget all the worlds problems for a bit. I am listening to How To Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi on Audio and I am just over half way through that book. I’m learning a lot and it’s helping me understand what conversations to have with friends and family. I had also downloaded The Vanishing Half by Britt Bennett. After hearing so much about it, I decided to start that as well. I alternate between the two audio books on my walks. Some days, I listen to music, other days I listen to nothing and get lost in my thoughts. Today I began Chapter three of The Vanishing Half.
I have continued my 3-4 mile walks and added in some upper body workouts on my TRX.
I first learned about the TRX when doing my 12 Week Livestrong Post Cancer workouts at the YMCA. I liked the TRX workouts so much I decided to buy one for the home gym. I’ve never adapted a regular routine with them, but I do like to use them. I’ve made up my own little upper body routine that I’m doing on M, W and F, but I should likely look into a recommended routine to really get the full benefit. I’m doing a few different things to work the biceps and triceps and I’m doing push ups with it. Much kinder on the shoulders!
Water and walking. High on the priority list and keeping me feeling good!
Friday Char and Sophia came to spend the weekend with us. We had fun playing outside, drawing, enjoyed a spa night, watched movies, made s’mores and just had some good old fashioned play time. While playing outside, they asked me where our dirt was. Like, they wanted to dig for bugs in the dirt. Once they found a good spot under a few stepping stones, they were there forever, showing me every single creepy crawly thing they could find!
Saturday night, after the bubble bath, Sophia massaged my back and legs for at least an hour while we watched The Wizard of Oz (one of their favorites). I told her I’d pay her if she kept it up! Sunday, I followed through with my promise. I love a light massage, and seriously, this 7 year old didn’t stop for over an hour. She said she was saving money to buy her brother a birthday present. I mean, can we all just melt in that sweet gesture for a minute?
It was pretty warm over the weekend, but they were all about playing outside and I was having fun watching them utilize the backyard. We’ve been able to enjoy the patio a few times now.
The hammock is always a hit.
It’s not a complete sleepover at Gigi’s house without a bubble bath. They washed and massaged my legs! Can they come back??
After the girls went home Sunday, I took a long bath and lost myself in my book, The Gown. After a bath and dinner, I got cozy in bed for more reading. I fell asleep shortly after 8:00 and slept until after 7:00 this morning! Those little ones wore me out!
Here are a few things I’ve been eating since we last spoke. I wrote, you read. You know what I mean.
Warm Cinnamon Apples. These are so dang simple. Slice an apple in a bowl. Add a dash of cinnamon and 1 T of water. Mix well. Microwave 1 to 2 minutes or until the texture you like. That’s it!
I used my Oatmeal Muffin and decided to pour it into a skillet into little pancakes.
Sometimes I just like to eat the same food, but in a different way.
I made a big breakfast for us and the girls on Saturday morning. These ladies are good eaters!
Friday night we had a BLT salad and lots of fresh fruit along with a frozen pizza. They ate mostly fruit and salad. We were all loving the mango!
Saturday night I made Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas. Nobody ate them but me. Mike was working away in the garage and insisted that he wasn’t hungry and the girls liked the idea I threw out at them for Cheese Quesadillas. It’s all good. More for me.
Sunday morning I fed them cereal. I don’t know the last time I bought a box of cereal.
Okay, I think for the most part you’re caught up.
I hope you are all having a happy and healthy week.
We JUST got word that Kansas will be under a Mandatory Mask Order as of Friday. Like many of you, I wonder how long life will be so unusual. I keep telling myself this…….
I can only control how I react to a situation.
I can only control how I react to a situation.
Hugs to all.
Oh, last night I had a dream that I had a beard and that it was normal for women to have beards. What the heck does THAT mean??
‘Til tomorrow! Like for real!
“love the life you live, live the life you love”
That recipe is in the WW App!! Search fajitas in “recipes” and it should come up!!
You’ve had that dream? 😆🤣😂 I have a lot of reoccurring dreams but I’ve never had that one before!
The Gown….so good!
The Vanishing Half good too but she jumps around a lot so I find myself rewinding. 😄
Ahhhh. The muffins. 😊
And you’re welcome 😘
We can only control how we react. Hugs!!!!
🤣🤣🤣 Best dream interpretation ever!!!!
Dream interpretation:
Mask mandatory = mask looks like a beard = Santa’s beard = Santa likes cookies.
Eat more cookies. ❤️
You’re welcome. Ronda
P.S. (sorry!) Recipe for your Sheetpan Chicken Fajitas, please?
Oh my gosh, I’ve had that same dream!!! What the heck is THAT all about?! Hey, I’ve missed you but life is soooo much more important than keeping rigid daily blog posts, so good for you! Loved everything you’ve shared here … you’re reading The Gown! Isn’t it so good?! I’ve got The Vanishing Half on my audiobook wait list. How is it so far? Update: I am officially addicted to your oatmeal muffins (labeled “Julie’s Oatmeal Muffins” in my WW recipe builder!) Can’t wait to try them pancake style. You’re a genius! Loved the grands visit and all the fun you had. So good to catch up! And thank you, thank you, thank you for the reminder that I can only control how I react to a situation. AMEN! Have a great week!
