Fun Stuff!

I’m going to start with big news. Well, big news for me anyhow.

If you’ve been following me for a long time, then you know being hired as a Weight Watcher Leader was a huge accomplishment for me. It was a goal of mine for a long time, one I honestly wasn’t sure that I would ever achieve. (Damn you self doubt.)

When I was hired, I cried so hard and felt so much pride for not giving up on myself. Probably important to say here that I originally applied for this position when I reached my goal weight in 2013 and did not get the job because at the time WW would not hire you if your goal weight was not within the BMI and you were at your Doctor approved goal weight, which I was. Also important to say that when I re-applied in 2016 (because they had now changed their policy), I received a letter saying they would not be hiring me at this time. WHAT??? I called WW and said that there must be some sort of mistake. My interviews all went perfectly and I was basically told that I had the job. I really did that! I called WW and said….”What the heck?” That phone call got me a meeting with the Territory Manager at a job fair. That meeting with the Territory Manager got me hired. (Screw YOU self doubt!)

For some of you, being hired as a WW Leader may sound like such a small accomplishment, but when you live with “weight” on your mind and in your heart for most of your life like I had, reaching my goal weight at Weight Watchers, then being hired to help others do the same was kinda like winning the lottery for me. I really was ecstatic. Still am.

While very happy leading At Work Weight Watcher Meetings (WW will go to your work place and hold meetings! It’s awesome for so many reasons!) and having the opportunity to sub for Leaders that have store meetings, I have been extremely eager to have my own meeting in a Weight Watcher store. A store meeting has a little different personality than an At Work meeting does. Both great, just different. Store meetings are typically larger, there is an opportunity to welcome, meet and congratulate new members that have come in to join, and the atmosphere and the energy of the members in a “store meeting room” is something that I can’t really explain. I’m eager to have my own store meeting for so many reasons.

Guess what?

I got my own meeting!!

It is in Lawrence, Kansas, so it is about a 45 minute drive each way, so bummer there, but it’s all good. I GOT MY OWN MEETING! I can’t wait to meet my members.

I start on August 17th!

Okay, other fun stuff.

I’m two weeks post op this dumb knee surgery and yesterday I’d had about all of the “depend on others” I could handle, so I decided to see if I could drive. I drove to work! I promised myself that if I didn’t feel as though I could drive safely then I wouldn’t drive, but I felt safe so I took off! Uncomfortable, but safe. I had doctor approval to drive if I felt that I could.

Yay! See? Fun stuff.

The brace and crutches are admittedly a pain in the ass. Or shall I say, a pain in the underarm, a pain in my neck and back, and really just an overall pain. Like, my body aches from crutch usage. Eye roll. Two more weeks before I see the doc again. Until then, patience and at home exercises twice a day.

I’ve been diligent about my exercises and I’ve even been utilizing my new TRX. I posted just a tad about the TRX s few post back, but I became aware of this awesomeness at the YMCA several weeks ago. I ordered the “At Home” version and I love it!

Tess snapped a few pictures of me while she was here over the weekend.

Typically I take the brace off, do my “at home PT”, then get in a few upper body exercises. I’m liking this TRX thingymabob.

A whole new way to do a bicep curl!

I have searched on YouTube for a variety of exercises to do with the TRX and I have found all sorts of upper body things to do. I am loving it!

Fun Stuff!

I’m also doing lots of Yoga stretches while sitting. It’s all doable.

I’m not really sure why I’m struggling to get back into the habit of daily blogging. I’m taking pictures of my food, but not ALL of my food. I am not tracking or counting points. That being said, I am happy with where I’m at on my food choices. Lot’s of meals out lately, but keeping it to mostly salads with a tasty protein, Fajita’s with no tortilla, beans or rice, but with extra peppers and onions, Burgers or Chicken Sandwiches with no bun and veggies on the side. Bacon, Veggie and Avocado Omelets for breakfast at home. A variety of things for lunch. Tuna Salad, leftovers from dinner, raw nuts and berries, yogurt parfaits and lots and lots of water.

I still like my beers and my wine with friends, but I am having them less frequently.

I’m down another pound. I haven’t seen 178 in a long time and it feels good to be back out of the 180’s. Fun Stuff!

Breakfast lately…..

Easy Tuna Salad. Tuna, Mayo and Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning. I’ve never put that seasoning in my Tuna Salad before, but I liked it!

My daughter in law drove me to work on Wednesday. On the way home we stopped at the food truck that I used to work at for a Burger. Holy Heck that tasted good!

So good it didn’t even need the bun.

A bed of greens, Turkey Taco Meat, tomato and avocado. Such an easy and yummy meal for me.

This salad was yummy with Grilled Chicken, Corn, Avocado, Tomato and Everything But the Bagel Seasoning from Trader Joe’s. I drizzled a little Olive Oil for dressing. With the tomato and Avocado, it didn’t really need much dressing.

I balanced it all out with this ridiculously delicious Breakfast Burrito while Tess and Manuel were here last weekend. It was filled with eggs and spinach. I ate the whole thing. 🙂

I’m driving to a campsite about an hour away in the morning (thank GOODNESS I’m driving!) to visit my dad and his wife at a small vintage trailer get together. Maybe nine or so vintage trailers? Dad tells me that I need to meet some of his “vintage trailer friends” and I agree! It’s also a great way for me to meet some folks that might know a friend of a friend of a friend that have a trailer for sale!

I did find one online today and I did text the owner. it was the perfect trailer and it was the perfect price, but it was possibly sold. She was going to let me know for sure.

When it’s meant to be, it will happen.

I’m currently on the deck, sitting under my umbrellas enjoying a light breeze and my tunes. I’ve been here most of the day. The knee situation being what it is, I hired a cleaning company to come today. I’m having the carpets cleaned on Monday and that’s the first time having them cleaned since having no dogs in the house. I do miss my little Mishka, but her aging condition meant messes in the house and I must say that I am ready for a tidy clean house.

That about sums up all the Fun Stuff!

I’m a couple days late with this, but please remember the importance of a monthly self breast exam.

💕 “Feel it on the first”  Or…..you know, the third of the month works too. Just make sure you are doing this monthly and taking care of yourself.

I found my lump 6 months after having a 3D Annual Mammogram that showed nothing.  Pay attention to your body. Continue to get your annual mammogram and also practice monthly self breast exams.

Doing a monthly self breast exam will familiarize you with your own body. Be your own advocate. Please take time each month to feel your breast for any unusual lumps, bumps, dimples or changes. Men too!!

💕 Please share this message and possibly save a loved ones life.

I hope you all have had a wonderful week and that you have Fun Stuff planned for your weekend!

What is everyone doing? I’d love to know!

I’ve been in WW for 4 years and up and down on my weight I have lost over 100 lbs ( not all on WW THOUGH), but I can never quite . I need them and their support to continue my journey ! I have met so many friends and I love giving new members tips and suggestions ! We love our leader but boy oh boy you’ve got a lucky group to have you as their leader ! Congratulations finally WW got you where you belong!❤️

  11. I agree with you about meetings at work and at a WW store.
When we had our meetings at school it was with the people I knew and saw each day. But when I started going to the store for meetings I met so many people with so many ideas that were new to me and people in the meeting room are always changing (glad for the new people but miss the ones that leave). They say variety is the spice of life.
So happy for you and your meeting–those are some really lucky people to get you as their leader. Lori is my fantastic leader.
