New Obsession

The leaves have fallen but it’s still Pumpkin Season and whether pumpkin flavored, pumpkin themed or simply pumpkin colored, I’m all in.

Believe or not, pumpkin is not the current obsession I speak of. But the real new obsession is going to be this redecorating phase of the living room until it’s done, then the dining area. I can’t think of a better project to work on while the days start to turn cooler and we move into the coziness of the season.

Actually, I may just be obsessed with this wall right now. Or just this 5′ section of this wall. Seriously. Can’t move from this view.

The sun is changing the vibe by the hour. Pretty sure this is my gift to myself today. This view.

My Friend

Friday evening was the visitation for my friend and yesterday morning was her funeral. It’s been an emotional few days. Her husband wrote a beautiful eulogy for the priest to read. In this beautifully written eulogy honoring his wife, he shared that when she was diagnosed with her terminal illness (ALS), how concerned he was. She said to him “God’s got this and I have faith that He will not let me suffer”. The family had shirts made that said “God’s got this”. It seems by taking her earlier than expected, she was right. That’s faith. I have to believe that the strong faith their entire family has and the support of loved ones will help them while they grieve. Still gone too soon.

She would want me to enjoy my pumpkin and my project today, so that’s what I’ll do!

Currently shopping online for a lamp to go between the tv cabinet and glorious pumpkin chair. Poof and side table are temporary although I don’t hate either for now.

This is a maybe. Target. Target always fulfilling my needs.

My Gift to Myself YesterdayTime with girlfriends.

I spent the afternoon restaurant hopping and a little shopping with girlfriends cherishing just a few of the women I’m lucky to have in my life.

Then Mike and I opted for a quiet date night at home with take-out and a movie.

We watched the movie Respect, the Aretha Franklin story with Jennifer Hudson. So good! It’s a 2 1/2 hour movie so get cozy, light the fire, dim the lights and enjoy.

I did not get a blog post in yesterday about my day Friday as I wasn’t feeling great on Friday (totally fine now) and had no appetite and nothing worthy of a blog post was consumed.

Activity

Yesterday was a scheduled rest day. I am really enjoying the online trainer and app, Kickoff. I’m doing the basic plan for $3/day. Feeling accountable to someone and I like having a workout plan knowing what to do, how long, how many reps, etc. This is what I needed right now.

Breakfast

Nothing like a quick “grab and go” when needed.

Lunch with the girls

Stop number one. A cup of chili (1/2 a corn muffin) with a delicious non-alcoholic IPA beer called Liquid Rain. I’m on a mission trying all the NA beers and finding a few I really love!

Stop number two. A side of Brussels Sprouts and a St. Pauli NA German Beer. Not quite as delicious as the first one I tried, but still I was surprised at how much I did like it.

This was full of hops and citrus. It reminded me of a Blue Moon! Also, love the message!

Stop number three, a Wine Bar. The waitress offered to make me a mocktail with a nice flavor, but not too sweet and not loaded with calories. This was perfect and my bill here was $2.75. Um, yes please!

Fresh mint, a little squeeze of fresh lime and lemon, club soda and a splash of Sprite. Perfect!

Dinner

Back home with a to go order. Simple Caesar salad with grilled chicken.

I. WILL. PAINT. THIS. FIREPLACE. TODAY.

First I’m gonna sit here and stare at the wall some more.

What fun thing are you doing today?

GO CHIEFS!!

  1. I do have to say, I’m doing a much better job of taking projects slowly and thinking about what I want the space to look like instead of rushing through it just to get it done. This is new for me but I’m liking it. 🥰

  2. I forgot to comment on your friend’s funeral service. I loved her statement of faith – “God’s got this,” and how much that gave her peace. It’s such a good reminder to all of us – He’s always, always there for us, and He’s way more capable of handling life’s trauma than we ever could. She sounds like an amazing person. Prayers for her family and friends, and you as you grieve her loss.

  3. All that glorious sun light is like a spotlight on your new favorite corner! Love the poof. And that lamp at Target would look great beside the chair! So fun watching it all come together. The whole room is just beautiful. And now I can’t wait to see the painted fireplace! Redecorating “obsessions” are so much fun, especially when it finally all comes together and you kick back and say, “Ahhhhhh.” Am I right?

  4. Sue! Hi! 😂 I love those spots on the floor too and now they have a name! Pumpkin spots! Thank you! 🧡🤣🧡

  5. I love how the sun makes ” pumpkin” spots on your floor. More pumpkin in your life! You’re welcome!
