Learning to Run

Last night Mike asked…..”How did “Running One Mile Everyday” for the month of July go?

I said….”I think I only missed 5 days.”

The awesome thing about my blog is that, I can look back at anything I need to and see just how I did.

I MISSED 17 DAYS!!!

Okay, I will say only five of those days I did NO exercise at all, but I couldn’t believe I missed 17 days. It felt like such an active month!!

After looking back at my blog I discovered this……

One of those days that I did not run,  I walked 6.8 Miles and Biked 3.0 Miles.

One of those days that I did not run,  I went to THREE yoga classes.

One of those days that I did not run,  I walked and worked in the yard for hours.

The other days that I did not run,  I walked good long walks.

So, as disappointed as I was to see that I missed 17 days, I realized after looking over my month, that I was super active and I am LOVIN’ Yoga!

I did learn to run, but I never really did learn to LOVE running. It did become easier for me to do. A few times I really picked up my pace, and on those days, I did not like running. I discovered that if I keep my nice, slow pace of a 12 minute mile, I actually do enjoy the run.

I’ll continue to run periodically, but I have no plans whatsoever to run everyday in August. 🙂

Now for an awesome BLT for 8 PointsPlus!

After seeing all of the tomatoes that my mother-in-law brought to us, Mike suggested we have BLT’s. I have never….ever……made a BLT. I’m not sure why. I guess as I kid, i wasn’t a huge tomato fan, and still, I wouldn’t say a plate of tomatoes is anything I crave. But I learned a couple of years ago, that there is definitely something different about a homegrown tomato! There almost meaty!! And the juice! Oh the juice!

Well, I used all of the tomatoes that we did have for the Homemade Marinara sauce the other night, but there is this little veggie stand down the street from us that sells tomatoes, along with a few other things, so I decided to take a little shopping trip! I bought tomatoes and peaches. These tomatoes were huge, and they really were extra juicy! I felt like I could make a yummy BLT for less than 10 PointsPlus, and I did!

I used my favorite Trader Joe’s bread and light mayo. I did use real butter, but this bacon that I bought at Trader Joe’s was only 2 PointsPlus for three pieces! JACKPOT!!

Ingredients

2 Slices Trader Joe’s Bread

3 Slices Trader Joe’s Bacon, cooked

1 T. Butter, softened

1 T. Light Mayo

Fresh Sliced Tomatoes

Lettuce

Salt and Pepper

My Personal Assembly……

Spread 1/2 T. of Butter on one slice of bread. Lay in skillet over medium heat. Spread 1 T. Light mayo on the slice of bread that is in the skillet. This works best with the back of a spoon, and avoids you having to hold a buttered piece of bread! Top that slice of bread with the tomato slices and the three slices of cooked bacon.

(I made three sandwiches…..Two for Mike on Sourdough, One for me on Trader Joe’s bread.)

Butter the second slice of bread with the remaining 1/2 T. of butter, and place butter side up, on top of the sandwich. Grill until lightly brown and flip! You gotta flip quick though…..You don’t wanna lose the whole thing! Grill until nicely toasted!
